English as a Second Language
The ability to speak, read, and write in English is key to the success of immigrants and refugees in their new home. The Center proudly offers world-class ESL classes at no cost to students. We offer a total of eight classes at four class levels, beginning with pre-literacy.
Our classes give students the confidence to navigate their new home city as well as help prepare them to obtain their GED, pass the US citizenship test, find gainful employment, and speak with their doctors and children’s teachers.
Each class is taught by a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) certified ESL teacher. Classes meet Monday through Friday and we hold open enrollment twice a year.
Our ESL program is funded by following generous donors: the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the Tennessee Office for Refugees, and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
